I know I don’t write blogs often (I only wrote one) but today I got inspiration by watching European Film Awards.
Everyone loves to watch films and I think that there isn’t anyone who doesn’t, if there is such a person, he/she is psychiatric case. Most of the films we watch are from rich corporate US production companies Paramount, 20th Century etc … As we know India and United States make the most exports of films. Of so many (let’s take for an example 200 films, but they make far more than that) films made by US production how many of them are great? In my opinion 10-20 (even less) The truth is that they mass produce films just for financial benefits. The more money, the merrier. The key of that success is that with each film they target specific group of people (obsessed teenagers, war glorifying men, menopause woman…) It is sad sad that great directors have to make bad films just because that’s what is on demand. I am not putting all blame on the companies. The one who we have to blame for disastrous films it is us, the audience. People accept to watch chase car explosions or pointless sparkely vampires films.
Here in Europe, this industry doesn’t produce as many films as US marked does, but every single film is worth of seeing. You can truly see that actors, directors do it with passion. They want to make something that is actually worth of hour or two of your life. These films don’t have typical Hollywood themes. Most of them are about real life, social problems, common people with everyday struggle. You can also find odd ones, which I love the most, that each time you watch it, you’ll comprehend it on a different way.
It is sad how majority is ignorant and don’t want even to see trailer of good quality film if there aren’t some famous “stars” in it. Oh, under good quality I don’t speak about CGI tech, I am talking about good screenplay, talented and passionate directors and actors. Also what is huge disaster to me when they in Hollywood try to make a remake of some great film ex. Abre los ojos-Vanilla sky, The Grudge (the original one is Japanese it is way better than franchise made by Columbia pictures) and many many others…
I just wish people were more open-minded to see something beyond sparkling vampires and other films full of money wishing Hollywood actors.
Here are some suggestions for you so try to see what I am talking about
